INAUGURATION OF THE NEW HEAVYLIFT CRANE

In the presence of representatives of the State, local authorities, partners and customers, Semop, which manages the Port Rhénan de Colmar Neuf-Brisach (France), received the symbolic key to its new Liebherr LR1800 crane.

The new crane, already in service since the end of June 2023, has a capacity of 500 tonnes at 18 metres. It will enable the port operator to be self-sufficient in terms of equipment and personnel for loading and unloading heavy goods. This structuring facility is part of the investment plan under the 30-year concession granted to Semop (shareholders: Rhenus PartnerShip France, SMO du Port Rhénan de Colmar/Neuf-Brisach and Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations) for the management of the Port Rhénan de Colmar Neuf‑Brisach. It enhances the attractiveness of the multimodal transport offered by the Rhine port’s service providers and the competitiveness of companies in the cross-border region.

“This investment is an important step in the development plan for the historic site of the Port Rhénan de Colmar Neuf-Brisach, and is also part of the future for the new EcoRhena port and industrial-logistics zone,” said Jean-Marc Thomas, Managing Director of Rhenus PartnerShip France, Semop’s majority shareholder.

Attendees at the inauguration were able to witness the handling of rolling excavator components on a barge bound for the port of Antwerp.
